Operations of 7 pharmacies disallowed for hiking rates of masks, sanitizers

JAMMU, Mar 10: The Drug and Food Control Organization today disallowed operations of seven pharmacies in Jammu and its outskirts for hiking rates of pollution masks and sanitizers.
Amidst reports of pharmacies resorting to hoarding and profiteering in respect of masks and hand sanitizers, the enforcement wing of Drug and Food Control Organization laid simultaneous raids at 50 drug sale establishments in the vicinity of tertiary/secondary care health institutions located at Shalamar Road, Talab Tillo, Bakshi Nagar, Channi and Kanak Mandi.
During the drive, seven drug sale establishments were found resorting to hoarding/profiteering by the inspecting team, which immediately disallowed operations of all these establishments. The erring pharmacies, distributors and suppliers were warned of punitive action under relevant provisions of law.
The drug sale establishments whose operations were disallowed, are M/s Parbat Medical Hall (Talab Tillo), M/s GD Enterprises, M/s Shivalik Medical Agencies, M/s Lovely Medicos (Channi Himmat), M/s SVN Medicos (Trikuta Nagar) and M/s Jaivin Jaival Pharma & Surgical (Canal Road, Trikuta Nagar).
State Drug Controller has appealed the people to follow advisory of Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in letter and spirit and further not to resort to panic buying masks and hand sanitizers.
