OPD services remain suspended over alleged misbehaviour by DDC member

RAMBAN, Feb 6: Doctors, paramedical and other staff of District Hospital (DH) suspended Outpatient Department (OPD) services alleging misbehaviour by DDC member during patient care.
As per reports, a minor patient from village Kanthi was admitted in District Hospital (DH) late last night due to abdomen pain. One of the attendants of the patient allegedly misbehaved with the doctor and manhandled him. The attendant also called DDC member Rakesh Thakur on mobile regarding alleged delay in treating the patient. The DDC member, who was in Jammu also allegedly misbehaved with the doctor.
However, the patient was treated and was responding to the treatment.
Today morning, the doctors, paramedical and other staff of DH assembled in the hospital compound and suspended the OPD services.
They also held protest and demanded immediate action against the DDC member for allegedly misbehaving with the on duty doctors.
After getting information, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ramban Mussrat Islam rushed to the spot and pacified the protesting staff of DH.
On the directions of the DC, two security personnel were deputed so as to thwart any such incident in future.
Later, a memorandum was submitted by the Doctors and Paramedical Staff Association to the Deputy Commissioner demanding registration of FIR against DDC member, police post in District Hospital Ramban, circular from DC office to general public not to misbehave with doctors and paramedics and if done strict action will be taken against him or her, no misbehaviour with Ambulance drivers, no videography or photography in hospital premises and no political interference during working hours with staff in the hospital.
When contacted, DDC member Rakesh Thakur denied all the allegations levelled against him and said that he just asked the doctor to attend the patient without delay.
