“And these counter-strikes in response to the dastardly terror attack by our highly professional and strong forces razed to ground the headquarters of several terrorist organisations like Lashkar-e-Toiba and Jaish-e-Mohammad.”
Inaugurating and laying the foundation stone of various development projects worth Rs 708 Crores in Gandhinagar, Shah said under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, India has developed along the Gujarat model-with rapid progress in infrastructure, services, and security.
He emphasised that the country is now on the path to becoming fully developed, thanks to decisive governance and strong political will.
Referring to national security, Shah recalled that before 2014, terrorist incidents were frequent and India rarely responded. “Terrorists from Pakistan entered our land, killed civilians and soldiers, and escaped unpunished,” he said. However, Shah noted that things changed after Modi became Prime Minister. “Terror gets an answer now.”
The Home Minister pointed out that since 2014, three major attacks – in Uri, Pulwama and recently Pahalgam – were all avenged with surgical precision. After Uri, India conducted a surgical strike. In response to Pulwama, it carried out an air strike. Following the Pahalgam attack, India launched Operation Sindoor, which Shah described as “historic.”
He said Operation Sindoor destroyed terrorist headquarters deep inside Pakistan, including those belonging to Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Toiba. “Our forces went 100 km inside Pakistani territory and destroyed nine terror hideouts,” he said, adding that over 100 terrorists were eliminated.
Shah said Pakistan-backed terrorists had targeted civilians in Pahalgam in a brutal attack where they asked people their religion before killing them in front of their families. “India responded with resolve, in accordance with its values but with unmatched strength,” he said.
He revealed that when Pakistan retaliated on May 8 by targeting civilian areas from Kutch to Kashmir, India’s air defence systems – improved during Modi’s tenure – intercepted every missile and drone. “Not a single one landed on Indian soil,” he asserted.
