JAMMU, Mar 2: Reiterating its oft repeated stand on Government formation in the State, BJP today made it clear to the Governor, N N Vohra that the onus of Government formation lies with its coalition partner PDP which is yet to choose its Legislative Party leader.
The stand was made clear before the Governor by a high level Party delegation comprising of BJP Legislative Party leader and former Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh and Party State president, Sat Sharma (CA) who called on Mr Vohra here this afternoon.
According to party sources, during one and half hour long meeting with the Governor various issues were discussed with him by the BJP leaders and they made it clear to him that the Party has not deviated from their earlier stand on Government formation and it was the PDP which has to take the call first. They maintained that the coalition and Agenda of Alliance which was a corner stone of joining hands by two parties was framed for full six years term but after the demise of former Chief Minister and PDP Legislative Party leader, Mufti Mohammed Sayeed, the coalition partner had to choose its new leader which it did not elect so far, sources added.
The BJP leaders also urged the Governor to implement some vital decisions taken by previous PDP-BJP coalition Government for the welfare of the people and development of the State.
The two leaders stressed on implementation of decisions regarding granting of financial package to PoK refugees and relief to flood victims of 2014 regarding which the decisions were already taken by previous coalition government.
Party sources said that during one and half hour long meeting, between Governor and BJP leaders various other issues regarding prevailing situation in the State came up for discussion. The recent incident of Sarore also came up for discussion during the meeting and BJP leaders expressed concern over the attempts being made by some elements to disturb the peace in the State. They stressed on curbing the activities of such elements so that no one is embolden to create a law and order situation in the State, sources added.
BJP leaders also discussed the forthcoming Municipal and Panchyat elections with the Governor and stressed on expediting the process for timely elections to civic bodies and Panchayats to strengthen the basic institutions of democracy in the State.
Sources said the delegation also discussed the developmental issues with the Governor like expediting the work on macdamization of roads with construction of lanes and drains etc. They stressed that the developmental works be taken up in hand on war footing basis, sources added.
When contacted, Dr Singh and Sat Sharma said that host of issues including expediting the development process, were discussed with the Governor by them.
This was followed by convening of BJP Legislative Party leaders meeting at Institute of Engineers Gandhi Nagar in the evening which barring former Deputy CM, Dr Nirmal Singh, MLAS Jeevan Lal and Neelam Langeh was attended by all MLAs and MLCs of the Party.
The meeting discussed the Party’s strategy for forthcoming Municipal elections in the State.
The meeting was chaired by BJP State chief Sat Sharma (CA) and among others it was attended by organizational general secretary of Party Ashok Kaul, general secretaries, Dr Narinder Singh and Pawan Khajuria.
The meeting decided to launch Mandal level Jan Vishwas Yatra from March 10 to March 30 and launch a campaign from door to door to highlight the Party’s policies and programmes by touching every booth.
According to party sources the meeting discussed the prevailing political situation in the State. Various other issues like recent incidents at Sarore, JNU issue and prevailing situation in the country was also discussed during the meeting.
It was also decided that the Party will launch the Jan Vishwas Yatra in all 111 Mandals in Jammu region.
