JAMMU, Dec 29: City Judge Jammu, M S Manhas today awarded one year imprisonment to Vishal Anand in cheque bounce case.
According to the complaint, accused had borrowed Rs 3,70, 000 from Surjeet Singh to fulfill his domestic needs and promised that he would refund the same amount on demand by complainant.
On demand of complainant, accused issued a cheque amounting Rs 3, 70, 000 which was dishonoured with remarks that account was closed.
After hearing both the sides, the court observed, “offence has been proved against the accused”. Accordingly, the court awarded one year imprisonment to the accused with the direction to pay compensation of Rs 7.40 lakh to the complainant.
