REASI, Mar 22: One student died and 16 others were injured when a minibus carrying them for school picnic from Nowshera to Shivkhori, met with an accident near Laiter, under the jurisdiction of Pouni Police Station. Click here to watch video
The victim are students of Government High School Serh, Nowshera. The deceased was identified as Harish, son of Bitta of Sariya, Jhanghar, Nowshera, who succumbed to injuries at GMC Hospital Jammu, where he was referred after the accident.
Condition of all other injured, who also included a teacher of the school, was stated to be out of danger. Three of them are undergoing treatment at GMC Hospital Jammu and 13 others were admitted at SDH Sunderbani, where some of them were discharged after first aid.
The accident took place at Laiter when the minibus JK11A-4111, carrying the students and coming from Nowshera towards Shivkhori, lost control in an attempt to avoid hitting a bike coming from the opposite direction. The minibus skidded off the road and turned turtle in downside.
The locals and Police shifted the injured to SDH Sunderbani when four of them were referred to GMC Hospital Jammu. However one of them succumbed to his injuries soon after reaching at GMC Hospital Jammu.
The injured, undergoing treatment at GMC Hospital, were identified as Sakshi, daughter of Bhagwan Dass of Makri, Sakshi, daughter of Rajesh Kumar of Makri and Chandni, daughter of Raj Kumar of Makri.
