JAMMU, July 3: A wine shop was completely gutted in fire in Gharota area on city outskirts while one of its employees sustained critical injuries and two others got minor burn injuries when some miscreants this evening set it (wine shop) on fire.
According to police sources, some local people carrying a gallon of petrol this evening reached the wine shop at Ranjhan and asked the employees to shut the shop but the latter refused to do so. Both the parties exchanged heated arguments after which the miscreants threw the petrol in the shop and set it on fire.
Sources said that the miscreants even did not stop there and locked the employees in the shop by closing down the shutter of the shop from outside before fleeing from the spot. They said the wine shop was completely gutted in the fire while one of its employees namely Ankur Rajput son of Sher Singh, resident of Gharota, received severe burn injuries and two others got minor injuries.
“All the injured were shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu for treatment from where the severely injured Ankur Rajput was taken to DMC Ludhiana by his family members,” sources further said, adding that a case under relevant sections was registered at police station Gharota and investigations started. They further informed that the people of the area were angry over opening of the wine shop in the area and had warned several times to its owner to close it.
SP Rural, Suram Singh said that a case has been registered and one of the accused has also been arrested while raids are being conducted to nab the others, who are at large.
