JAMMU, Aug 18: One person was killed while two others were injured today in the collision of a truck and a bike in Sidhra area of city outskirts.
According to a police spokesman, a speeding truck bearing registration number JK02AL-2547, which was on its way from Jammu to Nagrota hit a bike bearing registration number JK02H-4043 coming from opposite side in Sidhra area. He said in the mishap one person travelling on the bike was killed on the spot while two others sustained serious injuries.
“The injured persons were shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu, where their condition was stated to be critical till the last reports came in”, the spokesman said, adding body of the deceased was also shifted to mortuary room of the hospital for postmortem. He said that identity of the deceased as well as injured persons could not be ascertained.
The spokesperson said that a case in this connection was registered at police station Nagrota and driver of the truck namely Mohd Qayoom, son of Mohd Din, resident of Jhajjar Kotli, was arrested while both the vehicles involved in the mishap were also seized.
