JAMMU, Aug 23: One person was killed while two others were injured in three separate road mishaps in city and its outskirts.
According to a police spokesman, a youth identified as Deepak Singh Manhas, son of Joginder Singh Manhas, a resident of Malpur (Doomi), was hit by an Army vehicle on Jammu-Akhnoor road at Purkhoo area falling within the limits of police station Kanachak.
He said that in the mishap, the youth received serious injuries and was rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, where he was declared as brought dead by the doctors. “The body of the deceased was shifted to mortuary of the hospital for post mortem”, he said, adding police has registered a case in this connection and started investigations.
Meanwhile, one Shamsher Singh (45) son of Kehar Singh, resident of Geeta Colony (Akhnoor) was injured when the bike on which he was travelling, was hit by a car at Khour. At rotary near Vigilance Office in Jammu, a speeding auto rolled down the road resulting injuries to driver Ajay Kumar (23) son of Satpal, resident of Phalian Mandaal. In both cases, the concerned police had taken cognizance.
