JAMMU, Mar 26: One person was killed while two others were injured today in separate road accidents on city outskirts.
According to a police official, a man identified as Rattan Lal, 60, son of Thakru, resident of Kotli Mian Fateh (Miran Sahib), received serious injuries this afternoon when a cycle he was riding, was hit by a speeding truck at Satwari Chowk.
He said the injured man was rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu, where he passed away at about 4 PM. “The body of the deceased has been shifted to mortuary room of the hospital while a case in this connection stand registered at police station Gandhi Nagar,” the official said, adding the truck involved in the mishap was also seized while its driver managed to flee from the spot.
Another mishap occurred at Kangrail in Kanachak area where a 12-year-old girl namely Rashi Sharma daughter of Surinder Pal, resident of Kangrail, was hit and injured by a rashly driven bike when she was crossing the road. Meanwhile, a biker identified as Brijeshwar Singh, 20, son of Raju Singh, resident of Pargwal, got injured after a speeding Scorpio car hit his bike at Purkhoo. In both cases, Kanachak police had taken cognizance.
