One killed, five injured in road accidents

JAMMU, Feb 11: A man was killed while five others were injured today in two separate road mishaps in Jammu region.
According to a police spokesman, a tipper bearing registration number JK02AE-1470 collided this morning with an Ambassador car bearing registration number JK02AC-0414 in Domail area falling within the limits of police station Jhajjar Kotli.
He said in the mishap the car driver namely Alaf Din son of Shuker Din, a resident of Bye Pass Narwal, was killed on the spot. “After conducting postmortem at Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, the body of the deceased was handed over to his legal heirs for last rites”, the spokesman said adding a case in this connection was registered at police station Jhajjar Kotli and efforts were on to nab the accused tipper driver, who managed to escape from the spot.
Meanwhile, a speeding car today turned turtle near Kodyal camp falling within the limits of police station Akhnoor, when the driver lost control over the steering. In the mishap, four persons received serious injuries and were shifted to GMCH while one another received minor injuries and was provided first aid at Government Hospital Akhnoor.
The injured, who were shifted to GMCH have been identified as Jaswinder Singh (26) son of Lochan Singh, Karan Singh (20) son of Swarn Singh, Jasvinder Singh (23) son of Dalip Singh and Bhupinder Singh (23) son of Ajot Singh, all residents of Kodyal camp.
A case in this connection was registered at police station Akhnoor.
