JAMMU, Apr 12: A bike borne youth was killed while his pillion rider received serious injuries when their speeding bike collided with divider of National Highway near Moh Maya temple falling under the jurisdiction of police station Bagh-e-Bahu.
According to a police spokesperson, the incident happened this evening when the rashly driven bike whose registration number is yet to be identified collided with the divider of the road while negotiating a turn near Moh Maya Temple.
The intensity of the collision can be gauzed from the fact that an arm of one of the occupants of the bike identified as Sunny Thakur (23) son of Swami Raj Shan, a resident of Kishtwar (at present Sanjay Nagar) got amputated in the mishap while the other youth namely Piyush Sharma son of Anil Kumar, a resident of Sanjay Nagar, received serious injuries.
Both the injured youth were taken to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu for treatment, where Piyush was declared as brought dead by the doctors while the condition of the other was stated to be stable till the last reports came in.
The police has registered a case in this regard. According to the police, no bike was found on the spot of the accident, when they reached there. However, investigations are underway to trace the vehicle.
