SAMBA, Sept 10: A motorcyclist was killed while his pillion rider was injured today in a road accident near Railway Station Bari Brahmana.
According to a police spokesperson, the accident took place at about 12.30 pm when a speeding bus bearing registration number JK02BE-1292, which was on its way from Jammu to Samba, hit a bike coming from opposite side.
In the mishap, both rider and pillion rider of the bike (namely Dalip Kumar (40) son of Dhani Ram and Surinder Singh (38) son of Basant Singh, residents of Ratnal in Bishnah) received serious injuries and were rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, where after few hours, Dalip Kumar succumbed to his injuries.
After conducting medico-legal formalities, the body of the deceased was later handed over to his legal heirs for last rites.
A case in this connection has been registered at police station Bari-Brahmana and manhunt launched to nab the accused bus driver who managed to flee from the spot after committing crime.
