One killed, 21 injured in separate road mishaps

JAMMU, Jan 12: One person was killed while 20 others were injured today in four separate road mishaps in city outskirts.
According to a police spokesperson, an oil tanker bearing registration number JK02AS-3870 hit a bike bearing registration number JK21C-0378 this morning at Sidhra area of city outskirts in which bike rider Suram Chand son of Jallu Ram, a resident of Charkian in Bari-Brahmana area of Samba district received critical injuries.
He was immediately rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu, where he was declared as brought dead by the doctors. After completing all medico-legal formalities, the body of the deceased was handed over to his legal heirs for last rites.
After registering a case in this connection, the concerned police has arrested the accused tanker driver namely Mohd Rafiq son of Mohd Shafi, a resident of Chamalwas, Banihal in Ramban district and seized both the vehicles involved in the accident.
At Nagrota near Panjgrain, a rashly driven bus bearing registration number JK02AU-8571 rolled down resulting into injuries to 16 passengers. The accident happened this morning when the bus was on its way from Jammu to Udhampur. All the injured were shifted to GMCH Jammu for treatment.
The injured have been identified as Sunil Kumar (20) of Pancheri (Udhampur), Indra (39) of Durga Nagar (Jammu), Pardeep Kumar (50) of Sainik Colony, Arvind Khajuria (25) of Janipur, DK Koul (62) of Muthi (Jammu), Harvinder Singh (22) of Chatha, Deepak Singh (40) of Channi, Bhupinder Singh (40) of Digiana, Lav Singh (23) of Kali Bari (Samba), Rakesh Kumar (38) of Ramgarh, Vidya Devi (20) of Bari Brahmana, Neelam Devi (28) and Suram Devi (40), both of Ramban, and Ramesh Singh (41) of Barmeen (Ramnagar), his wife Koushalaya Devi (40) and son, Rahul Singh (13). A case in this connection has been registered at police station Nagrota and further investigations are underway.
Another road mishap occurred this morning near Toll Plaza in Nagrota, where a truck bearing registration number JK05E-5457 collided head on with a bus bearing registration number JK02AU-3649. In the mishap, four bus passengers suffered injuries and were shifted to GMCH for treatment. The injured have been identified as Shabir Ali of Uttar Pradesh and Mumtaz Bano, Mutassar Ali and Anjum Begum, all residents of Kulgam (Srinagar). A case has been registered in this connection at police station Nagrota.
Meanwhile, in Raguda area falling under the limits of police station Bagh-e-Bahu, a 6-year-old girl identified as Dania daughter of Raju Sharma, a resident of Rajouri, at present living near Batra, was hit and injured by an unknown vehicle. She was taken to GMCH for treatment. The concerned police have taken cognizance of the matter
