SRINAGAR : Only one Kashmiri crossed over to other side of the Line of Control (LoC) while five residents of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) arrived here to meet their relatives separated in 1947 due to partition.
As many as ten returnees also crossed sides at Kaman Post, the last Indian military post on this side of the LoC in Uri sector, official sources said today.
They said only one Kashmiri crossed to other side of the LoC in the first Karvan-e-Aman bus in the new year operating between Srinagar and Muzaffarabad, capital of PoK adding that six PoK residents also returned to their homes after completing stay in valley.
Sources said five PoK residents, including two women, arrived at Kaman post after crossing the Aman Setu, peace bridge on LoC in Uri sector. They said four Kashmiris, who had gone to PoK returned to their homes after meeting their relatives across the LoC. They included three women, sources added.
The cross-LoC bus, started on April 7, 2005 has helped thousands of divided families to meet each other after India and Pakistan governments agreed to allow travel of state subjects only on Travel Permits instead of International passports. (UNI)
