RAMBAN, Feb 28: One person was nabbed today with a large contraband of intoxicants by Ramsoo police.
A police party led by SHO Ramsoo Inspector Javiad Iqbal laid a surprise naka at Gangroo on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway. During checking and frisking, one person carrying a polythene bag and a packed box in his hand, on seeing the naka party, started fleeing from the spot to avoid checking.
However, the alert cops apprehended him after a brief chase. On thorough search of the suspected person police recovered 1050 tablets of Anxit 0.25, 56 Tromaza injections, 340 Trivon injections, 400 Temilan tablets, 500 Doltel 50 tablets from the box and polythene. The intoxicants were being carried away to sell the youth of Ramsoo area.
The accused person was identified as Shahnawaz Ahmed son of Mohd Yousaf, resident of Gund Thathar, tehsil Banihal, distt Ramban. He was taken into custody and all the intoxicants recovered from him were seized.
In this regard, a case FIR NO 11/19 under Section 8/21/22 of NDPS Act stands registered against the accused person at police station Ramsoo and investigation started to ascertain the source and other persons involved in smuggling of contraband.
The arrest and recovery was made under the supervision of SDPO Banihal, Sajjad Sarwar and under close supervision of Additional SP, Sanjay Parihar.
