RAMBAN, May 5: Police here today arrested a liquor smuggler with 32 bottles of illicit liquor.
Police sources informed that at a checking point on NH44 here cops signalled a car of Swift make bearing registration number DL2CAP-5213 driven by Khursheed Ahmed Mir, son of Habibullah Mir, resident of Kadi Pura, Anantnag, coming from Ramban and moving towards Kashmir valley.
On seeing cops, the driver tried to escape but was apprehended by them and during checking of the car 32 bottles of illicit liquor were recovered.
In this connection, a case with FIR No. 173/2023 U/S 48 (a) Excise Act has been registered at Police Station Ramban and investigation started.
The recovery and arrest were made by a police team under the supervision of Inspector Anil Choudhary, SHO Ramban and Dy.SP Hqrs, Pardeep Singh Sen and under the overall supervision of Mohita Sharma, SSP Ramban.
