One dies of COVID in Jammu, 2 officials test +ve in Kupwara

JAMMU/SRINAGAR/LEH, Mar 8: One person died of COVID-19 and 70 tested positive while 90 others recovered in Jammu and Kashmir.
An 84-year-old man hailing from village Satriyan Khurd in RS Pura tehsil of Jammu district died of Coronavirus and some other ailments at IVY Hospital Amritsar in Punjab today taking death toll in the district to 376 and Jammu region to 728. COVID fatalities in other districts include 64 in Doda, 57 Udhampur, 55 Rajouri, 53 Kathua, 40 Samba, 24 Poonch, 22 Kishtwar, 21 Ramban and 16 in Reasi district.
Jammu region recorded 11 new COVID cases today, all in Jammu district while rest of nine districts didn’t report any fresh cases.
Fourteen persons recovered from the virus in the Jammu region including nine in Udhampur district, four Jammu and one in Kathua district.
Jammu region now has 52113 Corona cases. Among them, 177 are active positives while 51208 have recovered from the virus and there have been 728 casualties.
Meanwhile, 59 people including an officer in the Education Department tested positive in Kashmir for COVID-19 today.
A 52-year-old Zonal level officer and a Government teacher tested positive for COVID-19 in Kupwara today.
The sample of the Zonal level education officer, admitted at sub-district hospital Kupwara, tested positive for the infection.
Another Education Department employee, currently dispensing his duties at Government Higher Secondary School Potushahi, also tested positive for the virus.
Those who tested positive for COVID-19 include 33 from Srinagar, 6 Baramulla, 5 Budgam, 7 Pulwama, 1 Kupwara, 4 Anantnag, 1 Bandipora and 2 from Ganderbal.
With these cases, the number of cases in Kashmir division has reached 75,001 including 73,072 recoveries and 1,235 deaths.
The number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 871 including 694 from Kashmir division.
With 90 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached to 124,280, which is 97.77 percent of the total cases.
Meanwhile, two fresh Coronavirus cases were today reported in Leh district in the Union Territory of Ladakh.
The UT now has 44 active positive cases.
