One dies, 22 other pilgrims hurt as bus overturns

KATRA (Reasi), May 21: A young woman pilgrim was killed while 22 others, all hailing from Jaipur in Rajasthan were injured, when their bus met with an accident near Moori village, on Jammu-Katra road today.
The mishap took place when the pilgrims were returning after performing darshan at the shrine of Mata Vaishnodevi from Katra. The speeding bus (No. RJ14PD-4101) went out of control at a curve and turned turtle on the road near Moori on Domail-Katra road, the police said.

Immediately after the mishap, the police party from Katra rushed to the spot. The locals of the area also reached there and swung into rescue operation. Movement of the vehicles was stalled on the road for some time.
While a young woman pilgrim was crushed to death on the spot, 14 injured were shifted to CHC Katra and eight others to Govt Hospital, Dansal. Five of them, were later referred to Govt Medical College Hospital, Jammu for specialized treatment. All the pilgrims hailed from Jaipur in Rajasthan.
The deceased was identified as Nitika (27), wife of Manoj Kumar, a resident of Jaipur. The injured admitted to Govt Community Health Centre Katra, were identified as -Divyaansh (30), son of Mohinder; Manoj Kumar (42), son of Sadhu Ram; Saroj (50) wife of Hem Chand; Divya, daughter of Hem Chand, Sushila (50), Deepa Kumari (30) daughter of Hem Chand, Gunnu (14), Mona daughter of Hem Chand, Mayank (6), son of Bhavan Sai, Bhagwan Sai (44) son of Hohinder Kumar, Kailash (38), son of Prem Chand, Rohan (6), son of Kailash, Daksh (6), son of Vijay and Chanchal Singh (30), son of Jagdish Singh. The police has taken cognizance of the matter.
