One day National Jat Intellectuals Meet held

SAMBA, Jan 13: J&K Jat intellectual Forum organized One day National Jat Intellectuals Meet on the theme “Role of Jats in Nation Building and need of unity among multi faith Jat Community” at Vijaypur today.
On the occasion, Prof JK Gehlawat, International President of Jat Biographical Centre was the chief guest whereas Jaiwanti Sheokand, Former Chief Secretary, Haryana presided over the function.
During the meet, members of Jat Community also paid tributes to Raj Bahadur Sub Ladhu Ram.
Various issues were deliberated upon including need of creating a Jat History, addressing to social evils like prevailing Dowry system, curtailing of lavish expenditure on marriages and other ceremonies and need of higher education and control of drug abuse.
President of the forum, Retd Colonel BS Choudhary presented a resolution for establishing a Jat complex in Jammu including hostel facilities for students to pursue higher education and memorial for Raj Bahadur Sub Ladhu Ram Obei. The resolution was passed by voice vote with a request to the Government to provide piece of land for this social project.
In the end over 50 persons were honoured with national mementos for their outstanding social and public service.
Among others present were Prof Dalel Singh, Vice Chancellor Raigarh University, Rajasthan, Sanjay Rathi, National Secretary, Union of Journalists, Jaiwanti Sheokand, Advocate Balbir Mann from Sonipat, Dharamvir coach from Haryana. Dr Rajpal Singh, International Shooter and coach, Vartika Singh, International Shooter from UP, Prof Inderjeet Arya from Delhi, Bhaupender Singh, SSP, Simarandeep Singh, Sushma Chouhan, Colonel Charanjit Singh, Avtaar Khalsa and Prof Onkar Choudhary.
