JAMMU, Apr 22: A married woman allegedly committed suicide by consuming some poisonous substance at her residence at Vijaypur in Samba district while another woman and a young girl also made abortive bids on their lives by consuming some poisonous substance at their respective residences in city outskirts.
According to police sources, a woman identified as Sunita Devi (35) wife of Surinder Kumar, a resident of village Manwal in Vijaypur area of Samba district, consumed some poisonous substance at her residence, this evening. In serious condition she was shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu, where she expired tonight.
The body of the deceased woman was shifted to mortuary room of the hospital for conducting autopsy.
Meanwhile, another married woman namely Rajni (24) wife of Balbir Kumar, a resident of Hirachak in Kanachak and an 18-year-old girl namely Shahnaz Akhter daughter of Younis Khan and a resident of Narwal also consumed some poisonous substance at their respective residences. Both were shifted to GMCH by the family members.
The condition of both the victims was stated to be stable till the last reports came in. In all the cases, the concerned police have taken cognizance of the matter.
