JAMMU, Aug 30: A man allegedly committed suicide by consuming some poisonous substance at his residence at RS Pura while three women made abortive attempts on their lives at their respective residences in Narwal, Trikuta Nagar and Raipur-Satwari area of city outskirts.
According to a police spokesperson, a 50-year-old man identified as Raghuvir Singh son of Banta Singh, a resident of RS Pura had consumed some poisonous substance at his residence last evening following which he was shifted to a local hospital for treatment. But as his condition deteriorated, late night he was referred to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu, where he expired today at about 1.30 am.
The body of the deceased was shifted to the mortuary room of GMCH for post mortem and a case in this connection registered at concerned police station.
Meanwhile, three women namely Pooja Devi (23) wife of Vikram, resident of Rajeev Nagar falling under the limits of police post Narwal, Kiran (21) wife of Amit, a resident of Trikuta Nagar and Anju (27) wife of Sham Lal, resident of Raipur-Satwari, also tried to end their lives by consuming some poisonous substances at their respective residences, today.
All three women were shifted to GMCH for treatment, where their condition was stated to be stable till the last reports came in. In all cases, the concerned police have taken cognizance of the matter and started investigations.
