JAMMU, Apr 28: One member of a marriage party was killed while 28 others were injured when a bus carrying them rolled down into a 50 to -60 feet gorge near Kanah falling under the jurisdiction of Hiranagar Police Station in Kathua district. According to police a bus carrying a marriage party was on its way to Kanah in Koota area of Kathua district from Utterbeni in Samba district.
Police said the driver of the ill fated bus bearing number JK02 C 7805 on reaching near Kanah lost control on steering and the bus fell down in to a deep gorge resulting into death of one Barati and injury to 28 others. The driver fled after the accident.
The deceased has been identified as SomNath 28, Son of Bamu Ramof Utterbeni Samba while the injured Baratis were taken to SDH Hiranagar for treatment where from eight were shifted to GMC Jammu in a serious condition. The Hiranagar Police has registered a case against the driver of the bus under relevant sections of the law.
In another accident three students were injured when the school bus they were travelling in, collided with a car in Kathua district.He said that the bus, packed with students, was on its way to the school when it collided with a car parked on College Road in the district.
“The injured students wererushed to a nearby hospital from where they were discharged after receiving first aid,” the officer added.
