JAMMU, Apr 7: One person was arrested today while about 300 Kg of Lahan was recovered and destroyed on the spot by the Excise teams, which conducted raids in Bishnah and RS Pura villages to curb the menace of illicit distillation and smuggling of liquor.
The raids were conducted in Bishnah and RS Pura ranges at villages Deoli, Makhanpur, Kotli Mian Fateh, Salehar, Dablehar, Tarachak, Phinder, Khour, Kirpind, Devigarh, Sai Kalan and Nikowal by the Excise team ledby ETO City Excise Range South, Rohit Sharma and ETO Eradication Wing, Jammu, Dr Suraj Chander Singh, along with Wasim Zargar.
During the course of raids, Bahadur Singh son of Sain Dass resident of Nikowal, was arrested and booked under Section 48 of J&K Excise Act, as two bottles of illicit liquor were recovered from his possession.
Besides this, about 300 Kg of Lahan and five bottles of illicit liquor made from Lahan, which is highly hazardous and injurious to health, were recovered by the raiding team from the State land and destroyed on the spot.
The raids were conducted on the directions of the Excise Commissioner, Mohd Javed Khan and under the supervision of Deputy Excise Commissioner (executive), Jammu, Ghanshyam Singh.
