JAMMU, Aug 18: Senior BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister, Kavinder Gupta, has taken a strong stance against regional political parties for allegedly misleading the public regarding the restoration of Article 370.
The senior BJP leader strongly reacted over a statement of former Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah who claimed that if his party will form the Government in J&K, it would introduce a resolution in the Assembly to oppose the Central Government’s decision to revoke the region’s special status under Article 370.
Speaking to media persons on the sidelines of a meeting held at party Headquarters today, Kavinder termed Omar Abdullah’s comments as “day-dreaming,” terming an ongoing effort by regional parties to mislead the people of J&K. He argued that such claims have not resulted in any significant action or change since the abrogation of Article 370 in August 2019. He contended that the regional parties have been unable to fulfill their promises or challenge the Central Government’s decision effectively.
Kavinder pointed out that the electoral defeat of Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti in the recent Lok Sabha elections serves as a clear indicator of the public’s rejection of their narrative on the issue.
Looking ahead, the former Deputy Chief Minister expressed confidence about the BJP’s prospects in the upcoming Assembly elections. He emphasized that the election process is underway, with candidate selection set to follow in the coming days.
He assured that the Central leadership is actively involved and that various pressing issues will be addressed as the party prepares for the elections. He anticipated that the elections will be conducted smoothly and that the BJP will emerge as the leading party in Jammu and Kashmir.
Kavinder confidently asserted that only the BJP is capable of fulfilling the aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K). He emphasized the party’s commitment to addressing the region’s long-standing issues after abrogation of Art 370 including economic development, security, and political empowerment. He underscored BJP’s ability to connect with the people of J&K and understand their unique needs, setting the party apart from its political counterparts.
