Omar, Mehbooba, Mir, others pay glowing tributes to martyrs of July 13

SRINAGAR, July 13: Rich tributes were paid to martyrs of July 13, 1931 by the leaders of various political parties today.
Former Chief Minister and National Conference (NC) vice president,  Omar Abdullah  visited Mazar-e-Shuhada at Ziyarat Hazrat Naqshband Sahib (RA) in Srinagar today and offered Fateha and floral tributes to the 13th July, 1931 martyrs. The Party vice president was accompanied by party legislators and senior leaders.
Speaking on the occasion, the NC vice president said the sacrifices of the valiant martyrs of 13th July laid down the basis for the just and sacred struggle that was fought against autocracy and tyranny by the people of the State. “The martyrs of 13th July, 1931 continue to inspire us to fight for the rights and honour of the people and will be remembered for generations to come. In giving the supreme sacrifice of their lives and in sticking to non-violence, they set an example that was noticed and acknowledged across the world. In their legacy we have to explore our inspiration to overcome injustice with justice and evil with good”, the NC vice president said.
The NC vice president while expressing serious concern over the continued loss of civilian lives said civilian killings were unacceptable and said people expected the Governor’s administration to ensure there is no further loss of civilian lives. “People need a respite and a sense of justice and if we are to rescue the State from the present situation of alienation and turmoil we will have to strictly implement a policy of zero tolerance towards civilian killings. With every loss of a precious life we are pushing the youth farther away into the abyss of alienation and disenchantment and that’s alarming”, the Omar Abdullah added.
Party legislators and senior leaders while paying glowing tributes to the 13th July martyrs highlighted their supreme sacrifice and said their selflessness would continue to inspire them for all times to come.
Former Chief Minister and president of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mehbooba Mufti also paid glowing tributes to martyrs of July 13, 1931. She visited the martyrs’ graveyard in Srinagar along with senior leaders and legislators to pay tributes to martyrs and recalled their sacrifices.
She said the martyrs laid down their lives for prevalence of justice and a social order in Kashmir.  “They laid their lives for bright future of the people of Kashmir and fought against the authoritarianism”, she added.
Mehbooba Mufti also laid a wreath on the grave of martyrs at their graveyard in Srinagar.
The J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) leaders today visited Mazaar-I-Shoda at Khawaja Bazar, Srinagar and paid floral tributes to martyrs of 1931.A team of senior party leaders and workers led by JKPCC president G.A. Mir visited martyr’s graveyard and paid floral tributes to martyrs. They also offered Fateh Khawani and prayed for eternal peace to martyrs.
On this occasion, G.A. Mir recalled the selfless services and sacrifices of the martyrs of 1931, saying that they (martyrs) laid down their live to pave way for a struggle against injustice and tyrannical rule.
The sacrifices of martyrs inspired oppressed people of Kashmir to rise   against the autocratic rule, their sacrifices will continue to inspire the generations ahead leading them at the path of peace, unity and harmony, he added and said the martyrs offered the sacrifices of their lives for the prestige and honour of the people.
G.A.Mir was accompanied by spokesperson Farooq Andrabi, MLA general secretaries Usman Majeed, Surinder Singh Channi, Gulam Nabi Mir Lasjan, Mohd Sultan, Abdul Gani Khan, Zahid Hussain Jan, G. M. Mir, Imtiyaz Parray Gulam Mohd Sheikh, Mushtaq Ahmad Khanday, Kadfeen Chowdhary, Imtiyaz Khan, Fayaz Ahmad Dar, Amir Rasool, Mir Rovais, Umar Jan, Mushtaq Bazaz, Surjeet Singh Bakshi, Mushtaq Ahmad Khan, Ruhulla Gazi, Mushaq Ahmad Malik, Ab. Ahad Bhat, Abdul Ahad Tara and others.
National Conference (NC) leaders paid glowing tributes to 1931 martyrs at a function held at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhavan here and pledged to work for strengthening democracy and promoting the spirit of unity and communal amity.
State secretary, Rattan Lal Gupta said the day symbolizes peoples’ urge for democracy and creating a society based on social justice, harmony and equality.               Prominent among others who paid tributes included Thakur Kashmira Singh Ex-MLC Babu Rampal Ex-MLC, Qazi Jalal Ud Din Ex-MLA,  Haji Mohd Hussain Ex-MLC, Dharamveer Singh Jamwal,  Satwant Kour Dogra provincial president Women Wing ,   Pradeep Bali, Abdul Gani Teli,  Vijay Lochan,  Tanveer Ahmed Kichloo,  Dilshad Malik,   Rohit Bali,  Veena Oberia, Pinki Bhat, Sanjay Gupta, S. Sucha Singh,  G.H Malik,  Som Raj Taroh,  Waris Gill,  Rohit Kerni, S. Tejinder Singh, Sandeep Singh, Dr Tara Chand, Mr Sanjeev Dewan and others.
While paying glowing tributes to July 13, 1931 martyrs, State Secretary CPI (M) Ghulam Nabi Malik Friday said the day has to be commemorated as the struggle of the people of Jammu and Kashmir for upholding the values of democracy, social justice and human values.
The July 13 martyrs are signposts of human rights protection, courage and sacrifice, rich values which should guide us in our political and social life. The struggle ultimately fructified and helped the suppressed people of the State to live with dignity, self respect and honour.
A large number of leaders and activists of Janata Dal (United) JD (U) led by J&K State president, G M Shaheen, today visited Mazar-e-Shuhada to pay tributes to the martyrs of July 13, 1931 and said the best way to pay homage to these heroes is to develop Jammu & Kashmir State as an egalitarian and tolerant society, free from the distinctions of religion, region, caste or creed.
Shaheen, while addressing the media on the occasion said, “It was their sacrifice that proved a turning point in our history and inspired millions of oppressed Kashmiris to rise in unison against an oppression dictatorship.
Senior National Conference leader and former Minister Sajjad Ahmad Kichloo also paid glowing tributes to the martyrs of July 13,1931, on the 87th Youm – e-Shuhada-e-Kashmir.
Highlighting the valour and selfless sacrifices of the martyrs,   Kichloo said 13th July 1931 was a watershed moment in the history of Kashmir and marked the beginning of a struggle against tyranny, oppression and despotism.
