The Chief Minister told this to reporters in Ganderbal in response to a question about the MP, who had earlier remarked that the polity in J&K had “degraded” and had called for reforms and encouraging new faces to come to the fore.

Omar said people should not waste their time on such statements and should instead focus on the work being done on the ground.
“Where are you going to get these new faces from? These people have been elected for five years. Why are you wasting your time?”
The Chief Minister said that the NC has capable MLAs, each of whom is working effectively. “There is no justification for attempts to defame them. Let others show their report cards-our MLAs will show theirs when the time comes,” he said.
Omar was in Ganderbal where he inaugurated the newly constructed Community Marriage Hall at Duderhama and laid the foundation stone for a 50-meter span steel trussed girder bridge for better connectivity.
The CM said that when he had sought votes from the people of Ganderbal, he had made it clear that he wished to serve them as their MLA and address their issues.
“I told them I wouldn’t disappear for five years, despite having responsibilities across J&K. I have never forgotten the favour the people of Ganderbal did by electing me. That’s why I didn’t give up this seat,” he said.
Omar said that wherever people are facing issues, the elected Government is addressing them while simultaneously ensuring the district’s overall development.
“Visiting the area helps understand the ground realities. I came across several issues today, and these will be taken up for resolution.”
Speaking about the upcoming Amarnath Yatra, scheduled to begin on July 3, Omar expressed hope that pilgrims would come in large numbers and return safely.
“Security is the responsibility of the LG and Raj Bhawan, and I hope all necessary arrangements are in place. As for arrangements under our purview-healthcare facilities and others-those have already been made.”
Commenting on the Israel-Iran conflict, Omar said he was bewildered by Israel’s decision to attack Iran.
“Before the attack, the US intelligence chief had stated that Iran was not in the process of developing nuclear weapons. If that was the case, what was the need for the attack?”
He added that politics appears to be driving the situation. “We hope the issue ends and that dialogue prevails as a means of resolution.”
The Chief Minister reiterated the Government’s commitment to build people-centric infrastructure that promotes social wellbeing.
Later, Omar also laid the foundation stone for construction of a 50-meter span steel trussed girder bridge over Nallah Sindh at Ahanger Mohalla, Gadoora.
The Rs 7.56 crore project is expected to significantly enhance local connectivity and facilitate smooth movement between habitations on either side of the Nallah.
Highlighting the importance of the bridge, Omar said: “This bridge will significantly improve access, reduce travel time, and ensure smoother mobility for residents.”
The Chief Minister was accompanied by his Advisor Nasir Aslam Wani, Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal Jatin Kishore, Senior Superintendent of Police Ganderbal Khalil Poswal, Chief Engineer Public Works (R&B) Department Kashmir Sajjad Ahmed Naqeeb and other concerned officials”.
