Old weaponry

Sir,
This has reference to gruesome tragedy having occurred in the form of Sindhuratana, the Submarine catching fire in the deep sea and ultimately snatching the valuable lives of two young Naval Officers in a fluke not involving an enemy action but a man made tragedy which can be bracketed into the category of forcible suicides. The matter assumes greater significance as it relates to the defense of the country and deeply impacts the Nation’s faith in the defense equipments, effectiveness of weaponry being used by the forces for fighting a war against the enemy in the event of external aggression as well as natural catastrophes capable of decimating the population of human species.
The  Indian media has hit the bull’s eye in exposing the underbelly of successive Central Governments coupled with Defense Ministries apathetically holding back the updating of not only Naval Defense Equipments which is presently in focus but also the aging weaponry in the Army and Air Force.
Apart from this horrendous man made mishap in the naval wing, number of incidents of Fighter Plane Crashes are reported from time to time in Air Force segment of Combined Defense Forces wherein we lose both the brilliant young Pilots and un affordably costlier machines.
The previous wars and Armed conflicts with hostile neighbours have proved beyond an iota of doubt that Indian soldier is the best in the world who fights notch a head of his call of duty even with inferior and outdated weapons.
The present generation of stubborn ruling politicians has slipped into a state of inertia. They need a severe jolt and a hard push. The onus lies on the Indian voter to wake up, mobilize and give a decisive hit through 2014 electoral battle by choosing the best replacement who can govern and deliver against the visible odds.
Yours etc…
