Old paralyzed man murdered

JAMMU, Jan 9: A 68-year-old paralyzed man was allegedly murdered today in Digiana area here on city outskirts.
“A man identified as Sudesh Gupta, son of Mool Chand Gupta, resident of Digiana was strangulated to death at his house in wee hours of Wednesday,” said a police officer.
Quoting the wife of the deceased, the officer said, “At about 3:30 AM today, someone knocked the door of their room located on 1st floor of their house. As she opened the door, an unidentified man barged into the house. He threatened to kill her and demanded all money and jewellery she had. While the woman was taking out money and jewels from the Almirah the man strangulated her husband to death and then absconded after snatching all money and jewels “.
However, the officer said that all claims of the woman seem to be fabricated as the money and jewels were intact in the house. He said that prima facie it appears that the old man was murdered on “money issue” by some family member as recently the deceased had sold his house located at Extension Sanjay Nagar (Jammu) at about Rs 30 lakh.
“After postmortem, the body of the deceased was handed over to his legal heirs for last rites while a murder case has been registered against unknown person/persons at police station Gandhi Nagar,” the officer added.
“FSL team has collected evidences from the site of crime. We have also some clues but it will be too early to say anything. Hopefully, in next two days, the case will be solved and the accused will be behind the bars,” Deputy SP Dr Sunniya Wani, SDPO South said.
