Old Janipur Civil Society raises pending demands, seeks Govt action

JAMMU, Jan 17: The members of Old Janipur Civil Society Action Committee held an important meeting today under the chairmanship of Kulwant Singh Sambyal, wherein long-pending civic and infrastructure issues of the area were discussed in detail.
The members expressed serious concern over the deteriorating condition of basic amenities in several localities of Old Janipur.
Among the key demands highlighted was the covering of the nallah at Bread Factory Road in Mohalla Pandoka Colony, Shant Nagar, which has remained unattended for a long time, posing risks to residents.
The committee also demanded installation of flood lights, construction of separate ladies and gents bathrooms and beautification of the chowk on High Court Road, Old Janipur.
Emphasis was laid on the need for enhanced infrastructure development and security measures in Ram Vihar Mohalla and surrounding areas, including the JDA Park near the Subash Chander National Flag Point.
The members further demanded the formal handover of JDA Park, Old Janipur, to the Jammu Municipal Corporation to ensure proper maintenance.
Seeking improved security arrangements, the Civil Society urged authorities to install flood lights and four large CCTV cameras in the park connected to the nearest police station.
Attention was also drawn towards several pending civic issues including non-functional street lights, damaged lanes and tiles, clogged drains, blacktopping of roads and covering of the nallah in Indira Colony falling under Ward Nos. 34, 35 and 36, along with surrounding areas.
The committee appealed to the concerned departments to take immediate steps to address these issues in order to improve civic infrastructure and strengthen security in the region.
Among others who were present included Rajinder Pal, Madan Lal, Amrish Singh, R N Kotwal, Rajat Sambyal, Tara Chand, R L Bhat, Charan Dass, Bhojan Singh, Ajit Singh, Ram Parsad, Vidya Bhushan, J S Baloria, Vinod Bali, P L Sharma, Sat Pal, Sardari Lal, Hafiz, Sheel Abrol, Anil Bhasin, Butti Ram, Uttam Singh, Jagdish Singh and Jaimal Singh.
