JAMMU, May 8: Gandhi Nagar police with the help of Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) footage worked out a burglary case with the arrest of an often visitor to complainant’s house and recovery of stolen gold ornaments worth Rs 5 lakh.
As per police sources, on April 24 this year, a complaint was lodged by Kulbir Singh, son of Kehar Singh, a resident of Nanak Nagar with Police Station Gandhi Nagar stating that Manmeet Singh, son of Amarjeet Singh, a resident of Model Town Digiana entered into his house and decamped with Rs 16000 cash and gold ornaments worth several lakhs, when he was out of his house along with his family.
The complainant stated that Amarjeet Singh often visits his house and it was presumed that he had stolen the cash and gold ornaments.
Acting over the complaint, a case under FIR Number 92/18 under Sections 454 and 380 RPC was registered at Gandhi Nagar Police Station and hunt was launched to nab the accused.
During the course of investigation, police go through the footage of the CCTV installed in the house of the complainant and on its basis, it got confirmed that Amarjeet Singh has stolen the cash and gold ornaments.
On reliable information, a team from Gandhi Nagar Police Station conducted raid and nabbed the accused.
On his disclosure, police recovered stolen gold ornaments of around 15 tolas including 3 gold chains, 2 gold bangles, 1 locket and 1 pair ear rings valuing around Rs 5 lakhs.
Further questioning of the accused is going on to ascertain his involvement in other theft case.
Police team led by SHO Gandhi Nagar Inspector Sunil Singh Jasrotia along with SI Kali Charan solved the theft case under the supervision of SDPO South Mohammad Rafiq Manhas, SP South Sandeep Choudhary and SSP Jammu Vivek Gupta.
