MUMBAI, May 13 : The official logo for the upcoming Nashik-Trimbakeshwar Simhastha Kumbh Mela 2027 was formally unveiled on Wednesday at a high-profile ceremony held at the Sahyadri Guest House.
The unveiling was performed by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, alongside Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Sunetra Ajit Pawar. The event was attended by several cabinet ministers, including Girish Mahajan (Kumbh Mela Minister), Chhagan Bhujbal, and Dada Bhuse, as well as prominent spiritual leaders and Mahants from various Akhadas.
The logo was selected through a comprehensive nationwide competition organized by the Kumbh Mela Authority in collaboration with MyGov and the Association of Designers of India (ADI).
The competition, which ran from November 20 ,2024 to December 20, 2025, received an overwhelming response with 3,067 entries, including 70 from international participants.
Maharashtra led the country in terms of participation, followed by Delhi and Tamil Nadu. Notably, the most active participation came from the youth in the 18 to 24 age group.
During the ceremony, Chief Minister Fadnavis honored the top three designers with cash prizes and certificates:
1st Prize (3,00,000): Sumit Kate (Pune)
2nd Prize ( 2,00,000): Mayank Nayak (Noida)
3rd Prize ( 1,00,000): Piyush Pimpalnerkar (Pandharpur)
The selection was made by a distinguished panel of design experts, including Prasoon Joshi, Ashwini Deshpande, Mandar Rane, and others, based on creativity, innovation, and brand consistency.
The newly unveiled logo integrates the sacred geography and spiritual traditions of Nashik and Trimbakeshwar:
Lord Shiva’s Trishul: Symbolizing spiritual energy.
Trimbakeshwar Temple: Representing the regional religious heritage and the Jyotirlinga.
Kalaram Temple Arch & Godavari River: The Godavari is creatively depicted in the form of a ‘Shivlinga’, emphasizing the religious significance of the sacred bath (Shahi Snan) in the river.
Chief Minister Fadnavis emphasized that this logo will serve as the global identity for the 2027 Kumbh Mela. To mark the launch, the logo will be projected on iconic landmarks such as the Gateway of India, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT), and the Bandra-Worli Sea Link to spread the message of this mega-spiritual gathering across the world.
The Simhastha Kumbh Mela is scheduled to officially begin with the flag-hoisting ceremonies in late 2026, with the primary ritual baths (Amrut Snan) taking place in August and September 2027.
