Officers meet industry leaders, conduct different activities

SAMBA, Dec 3: Secretary, Mining Department Amit Sharma today held an all-important meeting with industry heads of one of the oldest and biggest Industrial Estates Bari Brahmana of J&K wherein he has been appointed as Visiting Officer to ensure smooth functioning of all departments under My Town My Pride (MTMP) 2.0 programme.
This meeting was attended by President Bari Brahmana Municipal Committee Bhachan Lal, Tehsildar Bari Brahmana Diksha Bamba, General Manager DIC Jammu, SHO Bari Brahmana I.P Singh, HR heads of top industrial units like Dabur, Uflex, Emcure Pharma, Jai Beverages, Shivalaya Construction & others.
Secretary Mining mentioned main features of MTMP 2.0 during the industrial interaction meeting while emphasising that Bari Brahmana holds the potential to become a model town of J&K wherein Industry can make a phenomenal contribution to take this town to new heights in terms of employment generation, CSR initiatives, civil action plan, etc.
As disclosed by the Visiting Officer, the major focus of this Industrial Meet as a prelude to MTMP 2.0 is to channelise the energy and potential of unemployed youth by absorbing them in major industrial plants functional inside Bari Brahmana Industrial Estate and also, contributing phenomenally towards CSR activities in this town like maintenance of parks, green strips, orphan children education, provision of led lights and PTZ cameras in all 13 wards towards which there was a very positive response by all industrial units.
Meanwhile, different activities are being conducted by Jammu Municipal Corporation under the Jan Abhiyan Campaign under Second Phase of My Town My Pride.
Today continuing the trend a Nukkad Natak on necessity of sanitation and management of solid waste management, polythene free city and plantation drive was organized by Jammu Municipal Corporation in the Green Belt Park, Ward No. – 20, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu.
Deputy Mayor, Baldev Billawaria, Chairpersons of standing committees Raj Kumar Tarkhan, Ajay Gupta & Ex-Mayor, JMC Chander Mohan Gupta, Corporator Sham Basson remained present along with officers, staff members and a large number of prominent citizens were present on the occasion.
Deputy Mayor, JMC while speaking on the occasion stressed the need to restrict use of plastic carry bags and stressed upon the need to adopt habit of using cloth bags. He requested everyone to plant atleast one tree in their area to make the environment clean and green.
Under My Town My Pride Bicycle rally was organized by Jammu Municipal Corporation from General Bus Stand Jammu to Kala Kendra wherein Commissioner, JMC, Rahul Yadav, Joint Commissioner (R&E), JMC, Hitesh Gupta and many other officers/officials participated.
The objective of the rally was to bring awareness among the general public towards maintain sanitation and keep Jammu City clean and green.
Meanwhile, Director Tourism Kashmir, Fazl ul Haseeb visited Sumbal subdivision of Bandipora under Shehri Jan Abhiyan of ‘My Town My Pride’ programme.
During the visit, the Director held a meeting with officers, tourism stakeholders for the purpose of promotion of tourism in the area.
Emphasizing on the importance of Wular for the people of the district, he sensitized gathering about the key policy decisions of the government like identification and registrations of Home-stays, capacity building and awareness of tourism stakeholders in order to attract more tourists.
The Director discussed issues, bottlenecks, if any, in the tendering process and logistics at the tourist destinations.
The meeting was attended by SDM Sumbal, A.D. Tourism DAO, HDO, Ex. Engineer R&B, Naib Tehsildar and others concerned.
As part of ongoing Jan Abhiyan, prelude to ‘My Town My Pride’ programme, a series of activities were held today across the district.
On the occasion, awareness cum training programmes, seminars, plantation drives, special sanitation drives, water sample testing, anti encroachment drives and other activities were carried out by various departments across all municipal areas of the district.
As part of this ambitious programme, Unite Kashmir, a Youth organisation, in collaboration with Sub-District Hospital Sopore also organised a daylong awareness camp on ‘Ethics of Hospital’ at SDH Sopore here.
The awareness camp was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar as chief guest.
Senior Superintendent of Police Sopore, Shabir Nawab, President, Municipal Council Sopore, Masarat Kar, functionaries of health department, students and various stakeholders were present in the awareness camp.
At the outset, the DC handed over Cheques to Self-Help Groups and Street Vending Certificates to the concerned beneficiaries. Maternity Kits were also provided to the lactating mothers.
On the occasion, the concerned authorities of the organizing body highlighted the aims and objectives of the organization towards society.
The DC while speaking on the occasion appreciated the initiative of the NGO for organizing Mega Awareness Camp aimed to benefit the general people. She asserted that the need of an hour is to contribute towards society and urged the people to make a commitment for ensuring the welfare of the society as volunteers.
