Obi Mobiles enters J&K market with smartphones in affordable segment

JAMMU, Aug 22: Obi Mobiles, a recently launched smartphone brand, aimed at young consumers between the age group of 15-34, today announced its strategic partnership with Mahajan Electronics, a distributor based in Jammu.
Obi Mobiles offers five smartphones in the affordable segment with peppy designs and cutting edge technology that matches the tastes of today’s youth.
“Backed by ex-CEO of Apple and renowned marketing veteran John Sculley, the company aims to expand the horizon of technology in the mid-range smartphone ecosystem by introducing smartphones that are a combination of fashion in terms of unique design and technology features with no compromises, which is put together at just the right price point,” said Ajay Sharma, CEO Obi Mobiles while highlighting the features of Obi smartphones during a media briefing, here today.
He claimed that the company has spent significant amount of time and resources in R&D services before launching its operations in India so that best in class devises could be offered to the customers. “Obi Mobiles has entered the market with an aim to connect with consumers and offer them `Cultural Instruments’ in the shape of smartphones that capture the very essence of a user’s social presence,” Ajay Sharma said and further informed that in order to give these instruments a beautiful design, Obi has also tied up with design houses in Silicon valley, US that is creating new ID designs for the brand.
Maintaining that the growth potential for services enabled by mobile internet in Jammu and Kashmir was immense, he hoped that with Mahajan Electronics’ strong foundation and domain expertise in the space, the partnership with  them would allow Obi Mobiles to facilitate the consumers in the region with relevant smartphones having latest technology and stylish look. “We are also looking at tie-ups with distributors in other regions in near future and we are positive of acquiring at 5 percent market share across India by the end of this year,” he added.
Pankaj Mahajan and Nikhil Mahajan of the Mahajan Electronics, which will take up the distribution responsibilities for Obi Mobiles in Jammu and Kashmir, were also present in the news conference cum formal launching of the smartphones.
