JAMMU, Feb 19: OBC Youth from J&K today submitted a memorandum to LG GC Murmu demanding 27 % reservation to the OBC community of the Union Territory.
The memorandum was submitted through Deputy Commissioner Kathua. In the memorandum, J&K OBC Youth wing president Vishal Salgotra stated that benefits of reservation is being enjoyed by the OBC communities of all other states and UTs of the country and after conversion of the J&K state into two union territories OBC community of J&K was hopeful of getting their right of 27 % reservation but nothing has been done by the UT administration even after 6 months of creation of UTs.
Vishal Salgotra demanded that nomenclature of the Other Social Caste (OSC) be changed to that of the Other Backward Class (OBC) at par with other UTs of India. In the memorandum submitted to the LG, he also demanded political reservation to the OBCs.
