JAMMU, Jan 21: Various organizations of OBC community have urged upon the Government to conduct door to door survey of the OBC community members.
An executive body meeting of these communities was held under the chairmanship of Manohar Lal Tidyal, chief advisior, All J&K OBC Mahasabha in the presence of Faquir Chand Satia, president All India Backward Classes Federation JKUT Unit and Bharat Bushan Verma senior member of OBC Samaj and Abdul Majid Qureshi, president Backward Classes Union.
They pointed out that since independence to till date the OBC masses of Jammu & Kashmir have no representation in the JKUT Legislative Assembly but Modi Govt while implementing Political reservation (9-seats) for Schedule Tribe and five to other segments were provided but BJP forgotten the political reservation for OBC’s who have voted his party in 2014 & 2019. It was a high discrimination by Modi Govt with JKUT OBCs.
In the meeting the speakers also criticized the discriminatory attitude against the OBC masses by the Modi Govt. The OBC bodies criticised the statement given by Ashok Koul, general secretary (Org) of J&K BJP that it was a fault of GD Sharma, Chairman of Backward Classes Commission for the discriminatory behaviour with the OBC and not of BJP.
Bansi Lal Choudhary, convener of OBC Adhikar Tiranga Yatra detailed the discriminations made by the BJP since 2014. He alleged that Narendra Modi, failed to fulfill his earlier commitments made at Maulana Azad Stadium Jammu and at Hiranagar with OBC’s during the Assembly elections in 2014 regarding implementation of 27% reservation in JKUT.
Another leader said that constitution does not permit any vertical reservation in the name of geographical regions and vertical reservation on language basis but the BJP carried over the vertical 10% reservation in the name of Backward Area as RBA and 4% as ALC+ IB as Socially & Educationally Backward Classes by issuing SO-176 of 2024 an amendment to SRO-294 of 2005 which are unconstitutional and illegal.
The BJP Govt failed to fulfill his commitment the caste census having a separate column for OBC census like schedule Caste/Tribe. At present caste census is the main narrative set by the OBC masses in the country and which the opposition political parties are also highlighting.
The OBC reservation in only 8% instead of 27% in the JK-UT. The Govt must implement Mandal Commission Report in the J&K
