JAMMU, June 28: The members of All J&K Kashyap Rajput Sabha (Moti Bazar), OBC Mahasabha, All J&K Sain Samaj of Barber community, All India Backward Classes Federation, All J&K Prajapati Sabha of Kumhar community, Vishwakarma Sabha, Dhobi Welfare Central Committee, Teeli Welfare Committee, Bowria Biradri , Bazighar Biradri and other OBC castes and communities took out a large peaceful protest march as a fourth “OBC Adhikar Trunga Yatra” in Jammu today.
The massive rally started from Dogra Chowk and after passing through main bazaars in the City finally culminated at Press Club . It was held in the memory of Lt Madan Lal Dogra, prominent social reformer and former president of All J&K Kashyap Rajput Sabha. The OBC community members were demanding implementation of Mandal Commission report with 27 % reservation to this community in J&K UT.
ML Balgotra, president All J&K Kashyap Rajput Sabha highlighted the discriminatory behaviour of JK-UT Govt towards OBC’s and said despite the abrogation of Article 370 , 27% reservation as per Central laws has not been implemented in J&K till date.
KL Basotra, Chairman OBC Mahasabha flayed the Govt for its discriminatory attitude towards Socially and Educationally Backward Classes Commission having no member of OBC Samaj headed by Justice (Retd) BD Sharma.
Bansi Lal Choudhary, convener OBC Mahasabha stated that the J&K State Reservation Act-2004 and Reservation Rules SRO-294 of 2005 are still in force as mentioned in the J&K Reorganization Act-2019 on page number 44 as item No. 7. The State Reservation Act-2004 and SRO-294 of 2005 were framed by the erstwhile J&K Govt before the abrogation of Article-370 according to which JK-UT OBC’s are getting “NIL” reservation in the name of OBC’s. The JK-UT OBC’s were and are still being called as OSC’s and not OBC’s by JK-UT rulers and given only 4% reservation in the name of Other Social Castes (OSC’s) in JK-UT Govt jobs.
Mohd Shabir Ahmed said that their community members are facing difficulties in getting their OBC/OSC certificate from the authorities. They are being harassed on the name of producing land records.
ML Pawar, Raj Kumar Mehra, RD Malik, Sunny Dogra, Ashok Kumar, Darshan Lal Mehra, Ravi Kumar Dogra, Faquir Chand Satia, Raj Kumar Chalotra, Gurpreet Dogra, Ram Lubaya and others also spoke on the occasion.
