SRINAGAR, Oct 7: The newly elected executive members of High Court Bar Association Srinagar were administered oath of office today at an impressive function held here at District Court.
Senior Advocate and Election Commissioner of the Bar, A R Keng, administered oath of office to president of the Bar Mian Abdul Qayoom, its Vice-President Aijaz Bedar, Secretary General Muhammad Ashraf Bhat, Joint Secretary Adil Asimi and Treasurer Bilal Ahmad Wani.
Mian Abdul Qayoom won the elections for the post 20th time. He was elected unopposed as nobody had filed nomination against him.
Advocate Mohammad Ashraf Bhat has been elected as Secretary General of the Bar for record sixth time. He joined Bar Association in 1981 and has remained active since then. He has represented Bar at international conferences.
Bhat is mostly dealing with civil matters and has never appeared in matrimonial disputes on husbands’ side and in rape cases on accused side.
