NSUI flays Govt for increasing Toll Tax

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, Mar 31: The National Students Union of India (NSUI) strongly opposed the BJP Government’s decision to increase the tax on Toll-Plaza on NH-44 in Jammu and Kashmir from 1st April. Earlier BJP Government has promised that they will waive off collection of taxes on existing Toll-Plaza in Vijaypur in Samba district, instead of doing that they have decided to put more burden on people by increasing the taxes on Toll-Plaza NH-44.
When the whole concern of the Government should be health and welfare of the children in Jammua Kashmir, they are setting up new ways to make money. The whole world is going through worse because of COVID-19, it has already started getting worse in India. The Government instead of giving free sanitizers and masks, is giving the burden of increased tax collection.
Neeraj Kundan, national president NSUI said that it is betrayal when you promise that the existing toll will be waived off on one Toll-plaza but instead of removing the existing tax you increase the tax rates of another plaza. “We demand the Government to immediately roll back the increased taxes and fulfill the promise of waving off the tax collection on Toll Plaza in Vijaypur in Samba district’’, he added.
