JAMMU, June 16: National Sikh Front (NSF) today organized a ‘signature campaign’ to garner public support for punishment to Sajjan Kumar and other Congress leaders in the 1984 killings of Sikh in New Delhi.
Led by NSF chairman and BJP leaders, Varinderjeet Singh, Gurdyal Singh Bali and Mandal secretary Harmeet Singh, NSF activists kicked off the signature campaign from Gurdwara Ashram, Digiana, here.
More than five hundred people from all walks of life reached the venue to pen down their signatures and expressed sympathy with the families who have been deprived of justice as the main culprits are roaming free due to their political association with the ruling elite.
Speaking on the occasion,Varinderjeet Singh said Congress leaders like Sajjan Kumar are being continuously shielded by the Government agencies.
“This signature campaign will continue till June end and there after the documents continuing signatures will be forwarded to President of India to seek his personal interference in ensuring fair trial and punishment to Congress leaders like Sajjan Kumar and others”, he added.
Gurdyal Singh Bali said the victims of the 1984 anti-Sikh riots have been fighting a lonely battle for more than 26 years for justice, which has not delayed but virtually denied by powerful Congress leaders. However, Harinder Baweja, Editor, Investigations, has exposed the ugly, uncomfortable truth about him.
He further alleged that a special investigation by Headlines Today has found that Nirpreet Kaur, a key witness against Sajjan Kumar, was being pressurized by HS Hanspal, a senior member of the Minorities Commission.
He further said that the Police have already presented the challan in 1992 against Sajjan Kumar and others but unfortunately, the challan had not yet been produced in the Supreme Court. He said that the Sikh members should sign the copies of challan of 1992 presented against Mr Kumar and others and, send it to President Pranab Mukherjee as well as Supreme Court.
