UDHAMPUR, May 12: National Secular Forum (NSF) today demanded the State Government to immediately open a Degree College at Tehsil Majalta of the district, to facilitate needs of the student community.
The activists of NSF Unit of Majalta today held a protest against concerned MLA and Minister, at Manwal here today. They raised slogans against the State Government accused the State Government to ignore Majalta Tehsil while opening new Degree Colleges.
Addressing the protestors, NSF president, Sukhdev Singh said the students of Majalta are bound to go for their higher studies either at Udhampur (which is 48 kilometres from Majalta) or Samba, and the opening of a Degree College in the Tehsil would benefit for students.
“I do not know what the criteria of opening a Degree College are but colleges have been sanctioned in some areas where only two or three higher secondary schools function while as in Majalta belt there are as many as 10 plus two schools,” he argued.
He warned the State Government of launching a strong agitation if tehsil Majalta is not considered for opening of a new degree college at the earliest.
