NPWS Ganderbal delegation calls on DC, lists demands

SRINAGAR, May 26: A delegation of New Peoples Welfare Society Ganderbal called on District Development Commissioner, Ganderbal and listed various demands of the people of the area.
The delegation was led by Mir Ghulam Rasool Batwina a veteran trade union leader and president of the Society. It demanded construction of Solid Waste Management plant in Panchayat Halqa Batwina A and B, creation of treatment facility by catalysing the role of rural sanitation Department, ACD Ganderbal and launching of an awareness campaign in the area.
It further demanded providing of twin type house hold bins for segregation of waste at source, widening of road from Badampora to Guzhama and from Daraluloom to Batwina, intensification of work on Guzhama-Shilvath bridge over river Jehlum which is going on snail’s pace, installation of street lights in the main market of Batwina, upgradation of play grounds in Batwina to mini Stadium and holding of Khel Mela in village Batwina.
The delegation also demanded augmentation of recently completed Receiving Station of Batwina and renovation of PDS wiring, upgradation of PHC Batwina to NTPHC and filling of 12 vacant posts for better health care, regularisation of traffic system by running Ganderbal -Sumbal sumo service via Sherpatri, running of Ganderbal to Batwina Sumo service via Zazna Waskura and running of Government bus service from Batwina to Srinagar via Waskura Shadipora bridge and containing drug menace in the village Batwina for which routine check be maintained by police.
The DC assured the delegation that the demands will be looked into on priority basis.
The other members of the delegation included Haji Ghulam Nabi Mir, Haji Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Dar, Dr Ghulam Qadir Mir, Haji Abdul Rehman Bhat, Ghulam Mohammed Lone, Mohammed Ramzan Bhat and Mohammed Suliman.
