66 bovines seized, 4 smugglers held

UDHAMPUR, May 26: The police rescued 66 bovine animals and arrested four smugglers in Trikti and Roudomail area of Udhampur last night.
Official sources said that Police team led by Incharge Police Post, Tikri , SI Abdul Satar under the supervision of SSP Udhampur Dr Vinod Kumar and DySP Sahil Mahajan during routine naka checking noticed few persons moving on foot from Tikri towards Kashmir side along with bovine animals.
The team found 52 bovines being taken by without any legal permission. Thereafter, all the 52 bovines were rescued and three bovine smugglers namely Mustaq, son of Mohd Yousuf of Panchari, Showkat Ali, son of Shayia of Rakh Raipur and Mohd Sulèman, son of Shah Wali of Marh, Jammu were arrested on spot.
In this connection, case FIR Nos. 122/2022, 123/2022, 124/2022, under relevant sections of law stands registered in Police Station Rehmbal and further investigation is going on.
In another case, Police party of PP Roundomail led by PSI Akhilesh Khajuria intercepted one truck bearing registration No. JK21A- 9686 and rescued 14 bovines at naka point which were being illegally smuggled towards valley without any valid permission.
A case under relevant sections of law was registered in Police Station Udhampur in this connection.
