POONCH, Oct 11: Castigating severely the State Government over its lackadaisical approach in mitigation of the burning issue of pending salaries of teachers under New Pension Scheme (NPS), the teaching community members under the banner of All Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh Teachers Federation (AJKLTF) has threatened to launch an agitation after Diwali.
The teachers falling under the New Pension Scheme (NPS) of the School Education Department are without salary for the last five months, where as in several zones they have not received their salaries of over 11 months. The teachers have expressed serious concern over unprecedented delay in release of salary.
In a press conference here these teachers said, “We have not received our salary for the past five months, where as in Sathra and Surankote Zones, the teachers have not received their salary of first five months since their appointment in 2014”
The teachers said that they have to go for off places to perform their duties but without salary they find many problems even they celebrated many festivals empty pockets.
A delegation of teachers also met Yashpal Sharma, senior PDP leader and MLC and CEO Poonch Ch Lal Hussain and apprised them of their issue but except promises nothing has happened, the teachers alleged.
They said that the Government should release their pending salaries at earliest so that they may celebrate coming Diwali festival.
Sunil Kumar, a member told that he is the sole bread earner of his family and the Government has left his family to face hardships. He said thousands of teachers under New Pension Scheme (NPS) working in difficult conditions braving all odds are reeling under agonizing conditions and the people at the helm of affairs have shut their eyes over the plight of the teachers. The teachers appealed Chief Minister to look into the matter and redress their genuine grievance at earliest.
Those present on the occasion included Amarjeet Singh, Paramvir Singh, Devinder Singh, Mohd Iqbal, Ajaz Ahmed, Mohd Riaz, Tahir Akbar and others.
