JAMMU, Nov 13: Accusing the State Government and BJP in particular of politicizing the civil and police administration to quell the voice of the NPP and other opposition parties, scores of National Panthers Party activists spearheaded by its chairman Harsh Dev Singh and state president Young Panthers Yash Paul Kundal staged a protest demonstration at Exhibition Ground here today.
The protestors raised anti-Government slogans and charged BJP for promoting its political interests by trampling upon democratic rights of opposition parties. They raised slogans against Dy CM, Nirmal Singh for abusing the civil and police administration for harassing and intimidating opposition party workers especially of district Udhampur.
Addressing the media, Harsh Dev alleged that while the separatists and subversive elements were being pampered and given open field to propagate their secessionist ideology in Kashmir, the nationalist forces and opposition parties were being tormented and suppressed with criminal cases being registered against them for holding political rallies and meetings.
He recalled that the District Administration Udhampur with a nefarious motive to sabotage the public meetings of Panthers Party, imposed Section 144 CrPc in entire tehsils of Basantgarh and Latti where the functions were scheduled to be held on 15 and 16 October. He said that large number of Policemen had been deployed in the aforesaid two tehsils to thwart the said meetings which had been organized by several Panchayats to felicitate him for his contributions and his persistent struggle for the cause of the people even after ceasing to be MLA.
Flaying the blatant and brazen display of authoritarianism of the Saffron brigade, Harsh Dev expressed his dismay over JDA for moving an application for registration of an FIR against State Congress leaders for holding a protest demonstration to commemorate ‘Black Day’ on Nov 8 against demonetization at Hari Singh Park Jammu. “The JDA authorities in the application had implicated the leaders for trespassing into a public park and forcefully trampling on the flowers”, Harsh said while dubbing it as a panic reaction of the BJP.
