JAMMU, Nov 13: Department of Applied Sciences, YCET today organized an extension lecture on personality development and communication skills for B.E. first semester students.
Dr. Baccha Babu from Department of Mass Commun-ication and New Media, Central University of Jammu was the eminent resource person for the lecture.
He stressed upon the fact that communication skills and personality development are two of the most important aspects of an individual especially during his/her formative years. “Developing and enhancing our communication skills helps us to be better presenters of our ideas. At the same time, personality development is a means and a method that helps us to develop our persona such that we can become better, smarter and brighter individuals. In the present era of globalization the most important assest is to poses good communication skills,” he said.
He also stressed upon the importance of reading newspapers, magazines and good journals. He inspired and motivated the students in developing their confidence and communication skills. He stressed though academics is of prime importance, the right skills for getting a good job are confidence and communication skills. “Mistakes are the proof that you are trying because you never lose,” he said. He further added that “to develop your personality you need to first develop your inner self and then concentrate on your outer self. This means that one needs to first develop ones mind and soul and then work on your physical appearance.”
