JAMMU, June 28: Concerned over the growing militancy in the State as also the revocation of PSA on the perpetrator detained for desecrating revered Aap Shambhu Temple in Jammu, National Panthers Party activists spearheaded by Harshdev Singh, chairman of the party and Balwant Singh Mankotia state president, staged a massive protest demonstration at Exhibition Ground here today.
The agitating workers were demanding strengthening of intelligence network besides invocation of PSA on the accused and other conspirators of heinous crime who vitiated the peaceful atmosphere of Jammu region.
Harshdev while speaking to the media recalled that the profane act of blasphemy and desecration at Aap Shambhu Temple in Roop Nagar on June 14 by one Yasir Alfaz had severely hurt the sentiments of the people of Jammu region. He said that similar sacrilegious act was committed at Nanak Nagar Shiv temple by a felon under a deep rooted conspiracy hatched by the anti-social forces who were hell bent to flare up communal tension by disturbing the secular fabric of Jammu region and to scuttle the scheduled holy Amarnath Yatra.
Mr Singh revealed that the District administration taking the cognizance of public fury and ferocity of turbulence slapped PSA on both the accused subsequently but expressed his anguish over the revocation of the act on Yasir Alfaz by irrationally declaring him insane and deranged. He wondered that how could State Government dub him ‘lunatic’ without any conclusive evidence that the accused was suffering from any form of mental disorder till date. He further revealed that the miscreant reportedly boarded the auto rickshaw from Roop Nagar and drove to Aap Shambhu Temple to commit the desecration and had no precedents of self or family abuse or ferocious symptoms which defied the theory of psychiatric problem.
Expressing skepticism over the State Govt’s flip flop over the constitution of a Medical Board to carry out the Medical examination of the accused to ascertain his mental health, Mr Singh lambasted the State Government and BJP in particular for shielding and providing immunity to the accused by towing the Kashmir centric agenda for the crumbs of power.
Mr Mankotia while flaying the political incompetence of the BJP, deplored that rather than raking up genuine and legitimate issues of the public, the Saffron MLAs indulged in ridiculous clamouring inside the legislature over their salary, CDF, plots, powers thus making a mockery of themselves.
