JAMMU, Jan 30: Agitated over the assault and humiliation of brave soldiers by the subversives elements in Kashmir valley followed by the State Government registering FIR against the Army men for appeasing the anti-nationals, a large number of NPP workers led by party chairman, Harsh Dev Singh staged a protest demonstration at Exhibition Ground here today.

The angry protesters amid raising ant- BJP and anti-coalition slogans demanded withdrawal of all FIRs against the Army and invocation of seditious charges against saboteurs in Kashmir.
While addressing the media, Harsh Dev Singh divulged that the incumbent Government had been placating and pampering the frenzied anti- nationals and stone pelters who were fearlessly assaulting and manhandling the security personnel in Kashmir. Referring to the episode in Shopian a couple of days ago, he said that a convoy of 10 Garwal unit came under heavy stone pelting by the protestors who tried to snatch the weapon of a soldier and lynch him. He said that the Army had no other option than to open a fire in self defence to disperse the crowd in the situation which otherwise could have taken an ugly turn.
He regretted that instead of encouraging the morale of the Army, the BJP partnered government once again preferred to register FIR against Major Aditya of 10 Garwal and his unit under sec 302 (murder), 307 (attempt to murder) and 336 (endangering life) of the RPC.
Harsh Dev said that it was utterly shocking to note the BJP leadership making the Armed forces defensive merely to keep its partner PDP in good humour and its alliance intact. Regretting the cowardly surrenders of BJP on varied issues before its coalition partner for the sake of power, he said that the State Govt announcing Rehabilitation policy for the surrendered militants with fan fare in Kashmir while doling humiliation to our brave hearts merited no less than mourning. He claimed that NPP would expose BJP for its misdeeds.
