JAMMU, Apr 13: Presenting a memorandum to Interlocutor, Dineshwar Sharma at Jammu today, Harsh Dev Singh projected the growing public anger in Jammu region against the incumbent rule which he said was marred by mis-governance, anarchy and lack of respect for democratic values.
He said that Jammu region had witnessed unprecedented bias with its people subjected to unimaginable levels of subjugation and suppression. He said that peace and normalcy could not be possible in the State without taking the people of Jammu region on board, who unfortunately had been treated most contemptuously with all their genuine demands ruthlessly suppressed by an authoritarian PDP-BJP combine.
Seeking the intervention of the Interlocutor in Rasana rape and murder case, which had rocked the State and became a national issue, Singh said that Govt should honour the public sentiment and order a CBI probe so as to identify the actual culprits, without fear or favour, and to accord them exemplary punishment. He said that people had expressed doubts over the credibility of present investigating agency, the Crime Branch, on the ground of inclusion of some officers of doubtful integrity in the enquiry committee. He further apprised the Interlocutor that some vested interest were trying to give a communal colour to the incident and were mis-representing facts so as to convey a misleading impression that those standing for CBI probe were trying to shield the culprits.
“Give death penalty to those who are the culprits, but harassment of innocents under the garb of enquiry was something that had sparked massive outrage not only in Kathua but other districts as well”, Harsh Dev said.
Drawing the attention of Interlocutor towards the security threat posed by illegal immigrants including the Rohingyas and Bangladeshis, Singh sought their immediate deportation in the interests of peace and communal harmony in Jammu. He sought the withdrawal of all orders issued by the Govt having communal connotations including the one on settlement of nomads.
Strongly insisting for holding early delimitation of Assembly constituencies in the State, Harsh Dev said that rectification of imbalances in allocation of Assembly seats to Jammu and Kashmir regions was the prime reason for all injustice done to Jammu region. He regretted that despite its inclusion in the Agenda of Alliance (AoA), the BJP-PDP combine had pushed the significant issue into the oblivion thus aggravating public fury.
