JAMMU, Oct 7: Accusing the Education Deptt of brazen violation of norms and procedures in transfers, particularly in Jammu Division, for vested interests and extraneous considerations, activist of NPP  led by former minister and chairman Harsh Dev Singh held a massive demonstration seeking a probe by SIT into the whole gamut of transfers of teaching staff.
The NPP delegation which did not find the Director in his office served a written charge sheet in his office seeking reason for issuance of wholesale irregular transfer orders and attachments in blatant circumvention of transfers policy issued by the present Govt vide order No. 622-Edu of 2015 dated 22-12-2015, besides several other irregular practices being committed in the functioning of the Deptt. The NPP activists later held a protest at Press Club and raised slogans against the Education Deptt seeking early action against Director School Education and CEO Udhampur.
Addressing the media persons,  Harsh Dev said that the Education sector in Jammu division was in shambles due to the highly irresponsible and egregious conduct of officers and unaddressed complaints of corruption in thousands disregarded by helmsmen thus giving oxygen to the corrupt elements in the Department. He said that with thousands of attachments in Jammu division alone having been effected for alleged monetary and other considerations, the Education sector was on the brink of ruin. He said that in response to an RTI reply it was revealed that DSE had himself attached 49 surplus staff in his office in addition to 59 sanctioned posts of non-teaching staff  thus taking the total number to 108 by circumventing the Govt policy on attachments.
Likewise, wholesale attachments had been made in each district of Jammu division with teachers, masters and even RETs having been attached thus blowing to smithereens the much hyped policy on transfers. He said that District Udhampur topped the list of attachments of teachers and RETs with more than two hundred such attachments having been made in Ramnagar constituency alone which had prejudicially affected the careers of students.
Ex-MLA called for issuance of a white paper on all transfer and attachments of RETs, Teachers, Masters, Lecturers besides other Education staff made in Jammu Division during the last one year.
